Friday Night Lights was the setting when the North Shore Mustangs visited Laurentien winning the game 31-10.

The game started off slow as there was no scoring in the first quarter, but the Mustangs offence got some momentum as the game progressed. QB Max St. James scored the opening touchdown on a bootleg play to make the score 7-0. Veteran wide receiver Jelani McLaren caught a 20 yard pass and fought off 2 tackles to increase the score to 14-0.

In the 3rd quarter RB Mathew John snuck out of the back-field uncovered to score a big touchdown to widen the gap to 21-7. This was followed by a 23 yard field goal by rookie receiver Daniel Perrault to make the score 24- 10.

The Mustangs ended the scoring with one more touchdown by RB Sammie Mesidore who scored his first touchdown since returning after a being out 5 weeks with a hamstring injury. The final score was 31-10.

Mustangs offence was led by once again by their offence line with added help from RBs JP Bouvier, Sammie Mesidore and WR Jelani McLaren

Defensively LB Greg Lee, DBAlex Grace had a strong game and DB Marc Baroudi had his first interception as a Mustang.

The Mustangs will be seeking some redemption for last year’s playoff loss as their next game is Friday October 9 @ 8pm when they visit the Greenfield Park Packers at Pierre Laporte Park.
