The North Shore Mustangs defeated the host Laval Bulldogs 42-14 last Saturday night to better their record to 4-0.
The Mustangs started the scoring in the first quarter on a run by veteran RB Mathew John to make the score 7-0. This was followed up by a 70 yard punt return by rookie DB Theo Obi Ojeaha to increase the lead to 14-0.
The second quarter opened up with another running touchdown by veteran RB JP Bouvier to widen the lead to 21-0. On the next drive the Mustangs scored again with a pass from veteran QB Max St James to rookie receiver Daniel Perrault who not only scored the touchdown but kicked a successful PAT making the score 28-0. Once again RB Mathew John rounded off the scoring for another major to make the score at the end of the first half was 35-0.
The Bulldogs did not give up and started the scoring in the second half cutting into the lead to make the score 35-7. The Mustangs did struggle in the second half with some uncharacteristic mistakes, but managed one more TD on a 2 yd run by Mathew John. This was followed by one more Laval touchdown to end the game with a score of 42-14.
The outstanding offensive players were veterans QB Max St. James, RB Mathew John and OL JP Beaudoin who anchored the O-Line.
The outstanding defensive players were DB Theo Obi Ojeaha with 2 INTs DL Marc Continelli and DB Alex Grace.
The next game is Saturday Sept 19 at Glen McHugh field with a 7:30pm start when the Mustangs play host to the St. Hubert Rebelles. |
